The Mysterious Howling (The Incorrigible Children of Ashton Place Series #1)

The Mysterious Howling (The Incorrigible Children of Ashton Place Series #1) - Downloaded this one in the summer, when Sync was offering it for free. Not my usual genre, but I still loved it. Super cute ya book. I will be reading the next in the series. Got to find out what happens to the incorrigibles.
Fantasy Lover - Sherrilyn Kenyon The whole time I was listening to this book I kept thinking this sounds so familiar. I may have read it before or read a book that is really similar to this. This was not one of my favorites. It seemed to drag on to me at times, the danger elements were resolved quickly, and there was very little action. Good book and I would have probably enjoyed it more a couple of years ago. I seem to be in a place where I gravitate toward dark, tortured, gritty heartbreaking angst, and nail biting danger. The overall story was good. Grace and Julian both were loyal, willing to face off danger to protect each other, and were both willing to make sacrifices just to make the other one happy. Julian is the typical tortured hero SK writes. However, this one seemed to be written a lot lighter than the ones I have recently read by her (league series). Julian has not had an easy life and cursed to live as a love slave by an evil, jealous asshat of a god. All Julian wants since he was a little boy was to be loved, accepted, and cherished. Can Grace give him what he needs and wants?Grace has decided to just live her life and forget about everything else that has to do with love, getting compassion, and moonlight walks. Then she meets Julian because of her pushy friend. Will she let him show her how much love she deserves, how compassionate a hot warrior general can be to her? Not much sexy time in this one. Lots of talking about it and heavy petting.
Born of Fire - Sherrilyn Kenyon I really do not know how to explain what I thought about this book. The only reason I gave it a 5 star rating is because of Syn. If I had to rate it based on Shahara it would be less than a one star. Not because of the writing but because I totally hated her. In fact, I need to add a book shelf called, suck it bitch, just for her. She has to be one of the worst heroines I have ever read about. First of all she keep making stupid mistakes, had no common sense, had a chip on her shoulder the whole time, betrayed Syn out the ass the whole time, and was just an all around bitch the whole time. She may have had one or two redeeming moments in the whole story. I really wish his hea would have been a heroine that had compassion for the hero, loyalty for the hero, less judgmental, and more supportive.Syn proved his worth over and over to Shahara by his actions, behaviors, generosity, and kindness. He has to be one of the most sweetest and compassionate heroes I have read in awhile. He really did not expect anyone to care for him and pretty much expected to be betrayed due to his past history of being rejected time and time again by those he loved. He was total alpha male with demons of his past chasing his every moment but he still worked to be an honorable, respectable man.I am so glad that I read book #4 and #5 of the League series before this and got to see Syn in each of them happy, healthy, and thriving with the Sentella group doing his medical and fighter thing. I would have been seriously unhappy if I did not get to check up on him after he decided to hea with Shahara.
Born of Shadows - Sherrilyn Kenyon This story had everything I enjoy in a book, action packed, treachery, passion, snarky characters, tension, and danger. The hero reminded me of MacGyver with his handy-dandy back pack. I truly enjoyed the adventure that Caillen and Desideria went on as they ran all through the universe to keep themselves and their family safe. I loved the chemistry that flowed between the two characters, the sacrifices they were willing to make, and the sit on the edge of my seat action they were involved in. Kept me glued to the earphones all day and night. Desideria comes from a culture that prove their worth by how tough, strong, and emotionless they are. Well, they can have anger, jealousy, and competitiveness. Desideria is having trouble fitting in due to all of the crazy family dynamics, envy from others, and her spots of showing emotions to the warrior nation she is from. Caillen is a fly by the seat of his pants, snarky womanizer. He rarely takes anything seriously but is loyal to his sisters and the Sentella. Caillen never questioned his life but literally he was down to the wire and a huge secret exploded right into his life. (can't tell you anymore, it will spoil it). That secret takes him on a journey that changes everything he has ever known, throws him into danger, throws him into betrayal, and he has to fight for his very life to discover how deep the deception goes. Fast paced journey between two outcasts, that are searching for belonging, love, and acceptance. Loved it!!
Lethal Rider (Lords of Deliverance, #3) - Larissa Ione As I read this book I kept thinking Thanatos may be my favorite horseman. I loved how Ms. Ione wrote his character to be the jilted pissed off deadly horseman, that was used to save the world from the Apocalypse. Just about everyone in this story has their hands in preventing or causing the Apocalypse, and the Aegis has decided to strike while the iron is hot to prevent the destruction of the world. Their interpretation of how to stop the Apocalypse is to make Than a father. Demon-slayer Regan is chosen to help with the task. That decision will set in motion not only a pregnancy but huge consequences for the Aegis, horsemen, and the world. Pestilence is a real ass in this one. He goes all out to cause as much chaos as he can, to his siblings. He inflicts pain, heartache, and destruction to his siblings and their family. His one true goal is to start the Apocalypse and he wants to break Thanatos's seal as soon as possible. Thanatos, has to deal with quite a bit in this story. He has a big secret that starts to bite him in the ass, it is exposed, and he has to finally answer to it. He has to deal with being used, being betrayed, becoming a father, passion for the woman who tricked him, and saving the world. The Aegis go through some changes and I can only hope that Lance gets his right up the ass in any upcoming book. He is such a foul assed-bastard. Loved this one. Thought it was faced paced, dark, witty, sexy, funny, and many sweet moments. Quotes I liked:From virgin to dad in zero to sixty."Well, your're a Horseman... the father... so...Ponyboy.""Fine, he muttered, taking her wrist. You're a terrible prisoner, you know that?""You're going to pleasure me." He got a dark, wicked thrill from her sharp inhale. "Whenever I want. At my every whim."Than said, "she's better. No thanks to you. But she's having... what are they called? Breaking Dicks?"There were several appearances from the UG medical staff including Wraith. Loved catching up with Eidolon, Shade, Con, and a sneak peak from Gem.
On the Edge - Ilona Andrews I had a hard time getting into this one, it took at least six chapters until I was able to start enjoying the characters. Gave it up a hundred times. I am quite happy that I stuck with it. Rose, Jack, George, & grandma made the story come alive with their commitment to each other and the sacrifices they were each willing to make. Loved the way Declan interacted with the boys and grandma. He was a true alpha out to serve and protect the little family. It took awhile to see his whole character but when I did. I absolutely loved him. He is loyal to those he cares for and will take on the baddies to make sure they stay safe. His relationship with Rose was interesting, they were both pretty guarded and it took a bit for them to warm up to each other. That did not stop his attempts to make demands on Rose or hers to challenge pretty much any demand he made if her. The bad guy was totally disgusting and evil. I can't wait to read William's story.
Maverick - Lora Leigh I listened to this book by audio and I think that made it that much hotter. Risa and Micah burned my ears off. Micah aka Maverick was assigned to keep Risa safe from the baddies. He was hardcore alpha but had a sweet spot when it came to Risa. He wanted the assignment because he had a score to settle with Orion. Risa was a seriously tortured heroine, working on putting her life back together. This story had strong alpha men, special ops/military, suspense, a sweet tough as nails granny, and a whole lot of sexy loving. I will be reading the series soon.
Hidden Away - Maya Banks Garrett is my favorite Kelly brother and I am glad he got his book. Although, Garrett is portrayed as the grouchy hard-ass brother to his family in this story he is super sweet and gentle with Sarah. He takes an assignment to keep track of Sarah due to his past association with her half brother Marcus Lattimer. He starts off using Sarah to find his old nemesis, in hopes of paying him back for all of the pain Marcus has caused. After a whole lot slow build up to sexy time it kind of ended for a bit. Sarah bailed and went into hiding. Garrett went back home, did some family things. Then Garrett, tracked down Sarah and sexy time happened, the team came in, and the suspense ended pretty quick. I enjoyed this one but it was different from suspense books that I usually read. I do love the KGI team and Kelly family so I will be checking out the next one.
Claimed (Club Sin, #1) - Stacey Kennedy ARC provided by Random House Publishing Group via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. I had a difficult time connecting the characters at first. The first meeting that Dmitri and Presley had, at his mansion, left me wanting more maybe a different setting or a different encounter. I don't know but it did not grab me at first. However, I did find that connection as the two had numerous encounters throughout the story. Dmitri is a hardcore Dom was a soft spot for the his submissive Presley. Even though he is taking curious innocent Presley on a journey of discovery, Dmitri finds out his limits as well. I enjoyed reading how the D/s relationship grew for the two as well as their overall relationship of trust, caring, and desire.Enjoyable read of two characters exploring their emotional needs that they normally avoid and the changes that Dmitri and Presley embrace. I found this book to be a light introduction into BDSM and figure that it fits with the story line, of lightly introducing Presley to the lifestyle of BDSM. I was rooting for the characters before the story ended. I wanted Presley to start embracing the changes her life was taking and become more empowered to experience all that Dmitri was introducing her to. I wanted Dmitri to let go of all of his hang ups and explore how good it could be with Presley. And did I mention there were plenty of steam up the mirror, change your panties scenes. I look forward to reading more of Club Sin bring it on Aidan and Cora.
